The festival of colours, Holi, was celebrated with enthusiasm and traditional fervour across the Northeastern states on Wednesday, with Governors and Chief Ministers participating in the festivities and conveying their greetings to the people.

In Arunachal Pradesh, Governor K. T. Parnaik celebrated Holi at Lok Bhavan in Itanagar along with representatives of the Brahma Kumaris. According to an official from Raj Bhavan, the Governor interacted with members of the spiritual organisation and appreciated their continued efforts in promoting peace, harmony and moral values in society. He encouraged them to keep spreading positivity and fostering unity among communities across the state.

Describing Holi as a vibrant celebration symbolising renewal and togetherness, the Governor said the festival reminds people to strengthen bonds of brotherhood, forgive past differences and recommit to collective well-being. He expressed hope that the occasion would inspire citizens to promote peace, harmony and tranquillity in society.

In Tripura, Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu celebrated Holi with children, staff, officers and employees at Lok Bhavan in Agartala. The celebrations reflected the spirit of unity and joy associated with the festival.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha extended his heartfelt greetings and best wishes to the people of the state on the auspicious occasion of Dol Purnima and Holi. In his message, he expressed hope that the festival of colours and purity would bring joy, harmony and mental peace to every household. He also wished that the bonds of brotherhood, love and goodwill among citizens would grow stronger during the celebrations.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, in a post on X, conveyed his warm wishes to the people of the state. He noted that Holi serves as a reminder that despite differences in cultures, languages and traditions, people remain united by shared values of love and togetherness. “May the colours of Holi inspire us to work collectively for the progress and prosperity of our state. Celebrate safely and responsibly. Happy Holi!” he stated.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also greeted the people on the occasion and took part in Holi and Doul Utsav celebrations at Barpeta Satra.

Across the region, people from diverse communities came together to celebrate the festival with music, colours and traditional rituals, reinforcing the spirit of unity and harmony that Holi represents.
