Agartala: Mar 25: During a Legislative Assembly session on Tuesday, Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman brought attention to allegations of corruption and nepotism in the recruitment process for teaching and non-teaching positions at institutions such as Tripura Central University and the National Law University.
Barman highlighted concerns over the implementation of PRTC (Permanent Resident of Tripura Certificate) requirements by the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC), questioning why opportunities were being restricted for outsiders. He cited specific instances, including claims that the son of the Assistant Vice-Chancellor of Tripura Central University, along with his fiancée and her friend, secured non-teaching positions. Barman argued that deserving local candidates were being sidelined in favor of individuals allegedly exploiting the system.
In response, Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha acknowledged the issue, stating that it had come to his attention. While immediate intervention was not feasible, he assured that an investigation was underway and that legal measures would be considered if necessary. The Chief Minister also addressed other questions raised by opposition MLAs during the session.
