Bengaluru: Mar 25: Former minister and MLC C.T. Ravi has sharply criticized the Congress party, claiming that opposing Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and the Constitution is embedded in its DNA. Speaking at the BJP state office in Bengaluru, Ravi argued that the Congress has a long history of anti-constitutional actions. He pointed out that while Dr. Ambedkar was a strong opponent of Article 370, it was implemented by Jawaharlal Nehru. Ravi also emphasized that Dr. Ambedkar’s vision for a Uniform Civil Code has not been realized, and the Congress party has been actively opposing its implementation, despite it being part of the Constitution.

Ravi specifically targeted D.K. Shivakumar for his remarks about altering the Constitution, calling it part of Congress’s “DNA” to undermine the Constitution. He also criticized Congress for supporting caste-based reservations, which he believes go against the constitutional ethos of equality. Ravi cited a cabinet decision from Rajiv Gandhi’s government, where Congress amended the Constitution to counter the Supreme Court’s ruling in the Shah Bano case, thus acting against the Constitution’s spirit.

He further slammed Congress’s “vote bank politics,” pointing to AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge’s comments on distributing wealth to Muslims, which Ravi viewed as divisive and unconstitutional. Regarding the current Karnataka government, Ravi claimed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and other Congress leaders are using caste-based reservations for political gain, despite knowing it contradicts the Constitution.

Ravi also questioned D.K. Shivakumar’s statements about potentially changing the Constitution if courts rule against them, highlighting his earlier remarks available on YouTube. In response to the Mekedatu project issue, Ravi suggested Shivakumar should have leveraged his ties with Tamil Nadu’s DMK to resolve the dispute. He concluded by calling for an investigation into Rajanna’s controversial statement about the honey trap issue.
