Agartala, November 8:
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday visited GB Pant Hospital to inquire about the health condition of Panchali Bhattacharjee, wife of former Chief Minister and CPI(M) Politburo member Manik Sarkar, who is currently undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) following a sudden illness.

During his visit, Dr. Saha interacted with the attending doctors to get an update on her medical condition and the progress of her treatment. Expressing concern, the Chief Minister said, “I pray to the Almighty for her speedy recovery and good health,” while extending his wishes to the family during this difficult time.

Panchali Bhattacharjee, a well-known social activist and Convenor of the All India Working Women Coordination Committee (Tripura State), was admitted to GB Hospital on Friday evening after she suddenly fell ill. A team of senior doctors is closely monitoring her condition and providing all necessary medical care.

The news of her hospitalization has drawn concern and solidarity from across the political spectrum. Soon after the incident, senior CPI(M) leaders including Central Committee members Manik Dey and Ratan Bhowmik, along with State Secretariat members Shankar Dutta and Ratan Das, rushed to the hospital to check on her condition and express their support to the family.

Known for her decades-long contribution to the welfare of working women and marginalized communities, Panchali Bhattacharjee has been a respected figure in Tripura’s social and political circles. Her sudden illness has caused widespread anxiety among party workers, colleagues, and well-wishers, many of whom have conveyed their prayers and hopes for her recovery.

Hospital sources said her condition remains under close observation, and doctors are optimistic about her response to treatment.
