Agartala, June 17: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Tuesday reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to improving the socio-economic condition of citizens, particularly the underprivileged, while inaugurating and laying foundation stones for 15 development projects in Dhalai district.

The Chief Minister inaugurated the newly constructed two-storey building of Halahali Higher Secondary School in Kamalpur and several other infrastructure projects aimed at strengthening education, healthcare, and civic amenities in the district.

Among the projects inaugurated were the renovation of Ambassa Degree College, a new two-storey building at Kamalpur English Medium Higher Secondary School, additional classrooms, a library and laboratory at Salema Higher Secondary School, two Anganwadi Centres, a box culvert, three cement concrete roads, a paver block road, and two brick-paved roads. Dr. Saha also laid the foundation stones for the construction of the Salema Primary Health Centre and a bridge at Shantirbazar.

Addressing a public gathering at Halahali Higher Secondary School, the Chief Minister said the state government has been implementing a series of developmental initiatives under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He noted that special attention is being given to the development of Aspirational Blocks to ensure balanced growth across all regions.

Highlighting achievements in the education sector, Dr. Saha said Tripura has earned recognition as the country’s third fully literate state. He pointed to initiatives such as Smart Classes, Nipun Tripura, and bicycle distribution programmes for girl students as key steps toward improving educational quality and accessibility. He also informed that construction of 21 Eklavya Model Residential Schools is underway to provide better educational opportunities for tribal students.

The Chief Minister said healthcare infrastructure has witnessed substantial improvement in recent years. Schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana have expanded access to quality healthcare services for people across the state.

Dr. Saha also highlighted welfare schemes including PM Awas Yojana, PM-KISAN, and PM-JANMAN, while emphasizing the government’s focus on women’s empowerment. He said around 55,000 Self-Help Groups involving more than five lakh women are currently active in Tripura.

During the programme, the Chief Minister flagged off eight garbage collection vehicles under the Swachh Bharat Mission and called upon citizens to actively contribute to the state’s development journey.
