Agartala, June 17: Tripura Chief Minister and Education Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Monday reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to providing quality education, with a strong focus on digital learning and infrastructure development in schools. Speaking at a felicitation programme for meritorious Madhyamik and Higher Secondary students at Town Hall, Dr. Saha praised students’ achievements and outlined ongoing education reforms.

“The Education Department is working with priority to ensure quality education. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we are giving special attention to the digital education system,” he said. Dr. Saha also praised Modi’s ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ initiative, aimed at reducing exam-related stress and encouraging students to approach exams as challenges, not burdens.

He urged students to maintain patience and dedication, noting that many succeed in life regardless of academic scores. “Our Prime Minister emphasizes bringing talented youth from non-political backgrounds into politics to change its current nature. Students must use their knowledge and abilities for nation-building,” he added.

Highlighting the state’s education milestones, Dr. Saha noted the successful implementation of the National Education Policy 2020. “Schools are being upgraded to English medium, and initiatives like the Super 30 project have secured seats in IITs, NITs, and MBBS programs. The Chief Minister’s Merit Award and common question papers have also been introduced,” he said.

Dr. Saha further revealed that Rs. 153 crore has been spent on new infrastructure in 44 schools, with Rs. 264 crore allocated for upgrades in 30 more. This year, 345 schools achieved 100% results in Madhyamik, and 39 schools did so in Higher Secondary. The pass rates stood at 86.53% and 79.29%, respectively.

BJP leaders, corporators, and local dignitaries also attended the event, celebrating the achievements of the state’s young achievers.
