Agartala: Jan 21: Tripura celebrated its Statehood Day with great enthusiasm, marking a significant milestone in its journey as a part of the Indian Union. The Governor of Tripura, Shri Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, welcomed distinguished guests from Manipur and Meghalaya at Raj Bhavan in Agartala, highlighting the states’ rich history, culture, and contributions to the nation.

In his address, Shri Nallu congratulated the people of Tripura, Manipur, and Meghalaya for their progress since attaining statehood. He emphasized the importance of unity, peace, and development in the region, underscoring the significance of inter-state collaboration. The Governor noted that despite their distinct identities, the states share common aspirations for growth and prosperity.

The guests from Manipur and Meghalaya shared their experiences and sentiments, reflecting on the historical significance of the day and expressing optimism about the future. The evening concluded with a shared commitment to strengthening ties between the states, encouraging cooperation in areas like education, infrastructure, culture, and sustainable development.

Tripura’s journey to statehood is a fascinating one. The state has a rich history, with the Twipra Kingdom ruling for centuries ¹. After India gained independence in 1947, Tripura became a Part C state, and later a Union Territory, before finally achieving full statehood in 1972 . Today, Tripura continues to grow and develop, fostering strong relationships with its neighboring states.
