Agartala, May 7 — Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha hailed India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’ as a “befitting response” to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians, calling it a powerful message to those sponsoring terrorism against India. Speaking at an official event, CM Saha emphasized the precision of the operation, which specifically targeted terrorist training camps and launchpads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), without harming any civilians or residential areas.
“PM Narendra Modi does what he says. We fully support him and stand in solidarity with the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, and all Indian forces,” Saha told reporters. He reiterated that India’s response was not only justified but necessary in light of repeated terror attacks on Indian soil.
Saha, who also handles the Home portfolio, pointed out Pakistan’s duplicity — claiming to oppose terrorism while sheltering and supporting terror groups. “It is high time to give a befitting response. Enough is enough,” he added. Regarding Bangladesh’s response, he noted that while Dhaka condemned the Pahalgam attack, it has yet to comment on the Indian military operation. Tripura shares an 856-kilometre border with Bangladesh.
Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu echoed similar sentiments, praising the Indian armed forces and warning that any nation threatening India will not be spared. “If that country retaliates, we are prepared,” he said.
He also announced that the central government had ordered mock drills nationwide to bolster civil and military preparedness. Emphasizing the importance of readiness, Reddy recalled his own experiences during the 1971 war, urging citizens to take part in drills and remain alert.
“Preparedness is not fear, it is our commitment to protect every life,” he concluded.
