New Delhi, August 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Vimalendra Mohan Pratap Mishra, a prominent member of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust and the head of Ayodhya’s royal family, known as Raj Sadan.

In a heartfelt post on social media platform X, the Prime Minister wrote, “I am deeply saddened by the demise of Vimalendra Mohan Pratap Mishra Ji. His life was dedicated to religious and social work. I pray to Lord Shri Ram to grant him a place at His divine feet and provide strength to his grieving family and admirers. Om Shanti!”

Mishra, aged around 75, passed away in Ayodhya on Sunday. A respected cultural and spiritual figure, he played a key role in preserving Ayodhya’s traditions while actively participating in the modern development of the temple town. His wife had passed away last year.

Mishra’s stature grew further with his nomination as a permanent trustee of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust on February 5, 2020, the day Prime Minister Modi announced the trust’s formation in Parliament. He was instrumental in both ceremonial and strategic roles during the construction of the Ram Mandir.

As head of Raj Sadan, Mishra ensured the continuity of ancient rituals tied to Lord Ram’s birthplace, while also addressing contemporary social concerns. His death comes at a significant moment in Ayodhya’s transformation following the 2024 inauguration of the Ram Mandir.

Condolences poured in from trust members including Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, Champat Rai, and Govind Devgiri, as well as political leaders and saints from across the region. His passing follows that of another permanent trustee, Kameshwar Chaupal, who died in February 2025.
