Teliamura, Nov 7: The Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital in Khowai district has achieved national recognition under the LaQshya initiative of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, marking a significant milestone in Tripura’s healthcare achievements.

A central evaluation team from the Ministry visited the hospital in September and found its infrastructure, maternal care services, and operational standards meeting all required benchmarks. Following the assessment, the hospital was officially accredited and awarded a cash prize of ₹6 lakh. If it continues to maintain the same standards, it will also receive an annual grant of ₹6 lakh from the Ministry.

It is noteworthy that the Cesarean Operation Theatre at the hospital was inaugurated in October 2023, further strengthening maternal and newborn healthcare services in the region.

The LaQshya (Labour Room Quality Improvement Initiative) aims to ensure safe childbirth, enhance the quality of labour rooms and operation theatres, and reduce maternal and neonatal mortality. Under the initiative, hospitals are evaluated on parameters such as cleanliness, infrastructure, infection control, patient care, and staff training.

To celebrate the achievement, the Teliamura Sub-Divisional Health Department organized a press conference on Friday, attended by Sub-Divisional Medical Officer (SDMO) Raja Jamatia, Gynaecologist Dr. Sushanta Saha, and other officials.

Speaking to the media, SDMO Raja Jamatia said, “This success belongs not just to our hospital but to every citizen of Teliamura. We have always prioritized the safety of mothers and newborns, and this recognition motivates us to strive for even higher standards.”

Dr. Sushanta Saha added that the LaQshya project has helped the hospital significantly enhance delivery care through trained staff, modern equipment, and regular monitoring.

Launched in 2017, LaQshya seeks to elevate maternal and delivery care in government hospitals nationwide, with Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital emerging as one of Tripura’s top-performing facilities.
