Ambassa, Nov 7: The Dhalai District Level Commemoration of 150 years of Vande Mataram was held with great patriotic fervour at the Ambassa Town Hall today, graced by the presence of Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu as the chief guest.

The event marked a significant milestone in honouring Vande Mataram, the timeless national song that has inspired generations with its message of devotion, unity, and sacrifice for the motherland. The programme was part of the statewide celebration launched under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, coinciding with nationwide observances of the 150th anniversary.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Nallu described Vande Mataram as a “spiritual hymn that awakened India’s collective consciousness during the freedom struggle.” He said the song continues to unite people across regions, languages, and religions, symbolizing the essence of India’s cultural and emotional strength.

He also paid glowing tribute to Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, the revered composer of Vande Mataram, acknowledging his literary and patriotic contribution that became a rallying cry for India’s independence movement.

Cultural performances, including group renditions of Vande Mataram by school students and traditional dance presentations, added colour and enthusiasm to the celebration. An exhibition on the historical journey of the national song was also displayed, drawing wide interest from attendees.

The Governor urged the youth to learn about the history and significance of Vande Mataram, stating that its message of unity and dedication to the nation remains as relevant today as it was 150 years ago.

The event concluded with a collective singing of Vande Mataram, filling the hall with patriotic emotion and reaffirming the enduring legacy of the hymn that continues to inspire the spirit of a united and developed India.
