Agartala, Nov 7: A two-day training programme on e-LISS (Electronic Livestock Integrated Sample Survey) software commenced on Friday at Pragna Bhavan, Agartala, organized by the Animal Resources Development Department (ARDD), Government of Tripura. The initiative, part of the Integrated Sample Survey (ISS) for the North Eastern States, aims to strengthen digital proficiency in livestock data collection, analysis, and management.

The programme was formally inaugurated by Jagat Hazarika, Adviser (Stats/PC) & CVO, Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Government of India, in the presence of senior officials and dignitaries from the central and state governments. The event also coincided with the 150th anniversary celebration of the national song, Vande Mataram, adding a note of patriotic reverence to the proceedings.

Over 125 officials from across the North Eastern region are participating in the training. During the inaugural session, Shri Hazarika provided an overview of the Integrated Sample Survey, underscoring its importance in improving livestock planning and policy formulation. He highlighted that accurate and timely data are critical for strengthening the livestock economy and ensuring evidence-based decision-making.

Dr. Prachi Misra Sahoo, Principal Scientist at IASRI, New Delhi, conducted a comprehensive presentation on the features, functionalities, and applications of the e-LISS software, which facilitates digital data collection and real-time monitoring.

Welcoming the participants, Dr. N. K. Chanchal, IFS, Director of ARDD, Tripura, emphasized the role of digital tools in enhancing transparency and efficiency in livestock statistics. He said the training would build regional capacity and foster collaboration among northeastern states.

The two-day workshop is expected to equip participants with practical skills to implement e-LISS effectively, supporting the broader goal of advancing sustainable livestock development in the region.
