Srinagar, May 15:  Three terrorists belonging to the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) were killed on Thursday in a fierce encounter with security forces in Nader village of Pulwama district, Jammu and Kashmir. The slain terrorists have been identified as Asif Ahmed Sheikh, Amir Nazir Wani, and Yawar Ahmad Bhat, all residents of Pulwama.

This marks the second major anti-terror operation in the union territory within 48 hours. Earlier today, the 15 Corps of the Indian Army posted on X: “On May 15, 2025, based on specific Intelligence input, a Cordon & Search Operation was launched at Nader, Tral, Awantipora by Indian Army, J&K Police, and CRPF. Upon observing suspicious movement, troops challenged the suspects. Terrorists opened heavy fire, triggering a fierce gunfight. Operation is in progress.”

Acting on actionable intelligence, security forces cordoned off the Nader village. As they closed in on the hideout, the terrorists opened fire, leading to a gunbattle.

This encounter follows Tuesday’s operation in Shopian, where three Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists, including their operational chief Shahid Kuttay, were killed. Kuttay was involved in multiple attacks, including the 2024 shooting of German tourists in Pahalgam and the murder of a BJP Sarpanch.

These developments come days after a ceasefire understanding was announced by India and Pakistan on May 10. However, just hours later, terrorists attacked a sentry post in Nagrota, violating the ceasefire.

India has reiterated that any terror activity on its soil will be treated as an act of war. In response to the April 22 massacre of 26 civilians by LeT terrorists in Pahalgam, India carried out precision strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and PoK. The Indus Waters Treaty and trade remain suspended amid ongoing hostilities.
