Agartala, May 15:
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday indicated that the state government is considering an increase in the honorarium of ASHA workers in recognition of their vital contribution to the healthcare system.

Addressing the state-level ASHA Convention held at the Indoor Hall of the International Fair Ground in Hapania, the Chief Minister said the government remains committed to ensuring the rights, dignity, and welfare of ASHA workers across the state.

“Our government is seriously considering increasing the honorarium of the 7,866 ASHA workers currently engaged in Tripura. Along with this, steps are also being planned for better training and overall welfare measures,” Dr. Saha said.

Highlighting the importance of ASHA workers in healthcare delivery, the Chief Minister praised their dedication in spreading health awareness, ensuring maternal and child healthcare, and implementing vaccination drives successfully even in remote areas.

He thanked the ASHA workers for their tireless service and humanitarian contribution to society, stating that their efforts have significantly strengthened the grassroots healthcare system in Tripura.

Around 450 ASHA workers from all eight districts participated in the convention. During the programme, several ASHA facilitators were honoured for their outstanding service in the healthcare sector.

In a major announcement during the event, the Chief Minister also launched 24 Mobile Medical Units aimed at delivering healthcare services to remote and hilly regions of the state. Officials said the vehicles are equipped with advanced medical facilities to improve healthcare accessibility in difficult terrains.

Additionally, mobile phones were distributed among ASHA workers to support better communication and improve coordination in healthcare services at the grassroots level.

Speaking on employment, Dr. Saha referred to the recent recruitment of 865 Post Graduate Teachers and claimed that under the BJP-led government, youths no longer need to resort to protests for jobs. He alleged that certain groups were attempting to provoke agitations for vested interests.

The Chief Minister further reiterated that the government would not compromise on healthcare services and is continuously implementing various schemes to strengthen the healthcare infrastructure from the primary level onward.

Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, State Mission Director of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission J.S. Nayak, Health Director Dr. Debashri Debbarma, Joint Mission Director of NHM Tripura Dr. Nupur Debbarma, Chief Medical Officers, and other officials were present at the event.
