With the West Bengal Assembly elections drawing closer, Tripura’s Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury has intensified campaigning for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Kolkata, joining other party leaders from Tripura in efforts to strengthen the party’s organisational network and mobilise support for a Narendra Modi-led BJP government in the state.

On Friday, Chowdhury chaired several programmes in the Bhabanipur Assembly constituency as part of the party’s campaign activities. The day began with an organisational meeting involving candidates contesting the Kolkata Municipal Corporation elections. During the meeting, discussions focused on political strategy, booth-level organisation and preparations for the upcoming “Brigade Cholo” rally scheduled to take place on March 14 in Kolkata.

Addressing party workers, Chowdhury emphasised the BJP’s campaign message, calling for political change in West Bengal. He said the party is working with a clear vision to bring development-oriented governance under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “The message of the campaign is clear — change is necessary and people want a BJP government,” he said.

Later in the evening, Chowdhury took part in a “Chai Pe Charcha” programme organised outside the Bhabanipur Mandal office. The interactive session saw participation from local party workers and residents. Former Minister of State for Home Affairs and two-time Member of Parliament from Uttar Pradesh’s Kheri constituency, Ajay Misra Teni, also joined the programme along with several other senior BJP leaders.

The day’s activities concluded with another organisational meeting at the Bhabanipur party office. Chowdhury met with presidents of three Mahila Morcha mandals and other party office bearers. During the meeting, leaders discussed strategies for strengthening grassroots mobilisation and ensuring maximum participation in the “Brigade Cholo” rally.

The BJP’s campaign in West Bengal is gradually gathering momentum, with leaders from neighbouring states like Tripura actively contributing to the party’s outreach efforts. Party leaders believe that coordinated campaigning and grassroots mobilisation will play a crucial role in expanding the BJP’s political base in the state ahead of the elections.
