Farmers across Tripura are set to receive a major financial boost under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, with ₹46 crore 36 lakh 34 thousand being directly transferred to the bank accounts of around 2.16 lakh farmers in the state.

The information was shared by Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath during a state-level programme held at the State Agriculture Research Station in AD Nagar on Friday. The programme was organised in virtual coordination with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address from Guwahati, Assam.

During the event, the Prime Minister digitally released the 22nd instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme, transferring ₹18,630 crore to the accounts of more than 9.32 crore farmers across the country.

Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha also attended the programme and expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for extending financial support to farmers. “Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated development projects worth ₹19,680 crore in Assam and simultaneously released the 22nd instalment of PM-KISAN for more than 9.3 crore farmers across the country. On this occasion, I extend heartfelt thanks to the Prime Minister on behalf of the farmers of Tripura,” he said.

Minister Nath highlighted that since the implementation of the PM-KISAN scheme in Tripura in 2019, a total of 2,85,521 farmers have received financial assistance under the programme. According to him, farmers in the state have received a cumulative amount of ₹931 crore 53 lakh up to the 21st instalment.

He said the scheme has played a significant role in supporting the farming community by enabling farmers to purchase essential agricultural inputs such as seeds, fertilisers, and equipment, while also helping them meet household expenses. Nath noted that the financial assistance under the scheme is fully funded by the Central Government.

“The latest instalment will further strengthen the state’s agricultural economy and reflects the Centre’s continued commitment to the welfare of farmers by ensuring direct benefit transfers to cultivators,” the minister added.
