Agartala: Sept 25: Tripura’s Tourism Minister, Shri Sushanta Chowdhury, met Union Cabinet Minister for the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DONER), Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia, on Thursday in the national capital to present a detailed overview of the state’s tourism initiatives and its future roadmap.

During the meeting, Minister Chowdhury highlighted the achievements of Tripura’s tourism sector in recent years and underlined the need for stronger financial and administrative support from the central government to fast-track new projects. He emphasized that Tripura’s vision is to develop sustainable, inclusive, and eco-friendly tourism while also creating livelihood opportunities for local communities.

The Minister drew attention to upcoming projects aimed at improving tourism infrastructure, enhancing connectivity, and promoting the state’s unique cultural and natural heritage. He stressed that with robust support from the DONER Ministry, Tripura could emerge as a major tourist destination in the Northeast.

In a social media post following the meeting, Shri Chowdhury informed that Union Minister Scindia assured full cooperation from his ministry. Shri Scindia expressed his commitment to extending all possible assistance to ensure Tripura’s tourism growth and reiterated the central government’s focus on strengthening the region’s potential through targeted interventions.

Minister Chowdhury was accompanied by Tourism Secretary Shri Uttam Kumar Chakma and Tourism Director Shri Prashant Badal Negi, who also participated in the discussions. Their presence reinforced the state’s comprehensive approach to aligning tourism development with regional planning and national priorities.

This high-level engagement marks a significant step toward strengthening Tripura’s tourism infrastructure and unlocking its potential as one of the most promising destinations in the Northeast, blending cultural richness, natural beauty, and economic opportunity.
