Agartala, Sept 25: In view of the upcoming Durga Puja festivities, Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath chaired a high-level review meeting on Thursday at the corporate office of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL). The session was attended by the Managing Director of TSECL, senior officials of Tripura Power Generation Limited (TPGL) and Tripura Power Transmission Limited (TPTL), along with virtual participation from Assistant Managers, Deputy General Managers, and Senior Managers across the state’s 16 divisions and 79 subdivisions.

Extending festive greetings to the people of Tripura, Minister Nath assured that the government is committed to providing uninterrupted power supply during the celebrations. “We have reviewed the entire distribution strategy to ensure that every puja pandal receives adequate electricity without disruption,” he told the media.

Key arrangements include ensuring all transformers are fully functional, adequate deployment of vehicles and staff—including casual workers—backup support from external agencies, and the operation of a dedicated helpline (1912) for immediate reporting of outages.

In a new initiative this year, the department will deploy special mobile response teams at major puja venues to provide on-the-spot technical support. “This proactive step will ensure that no celebration is hampered due to power interruptions,” said the Minister.

To meet the anticipated surge in demand, Tripura has reserved additional power, including 40 MW sourced from Mizoram. Nath noted that such regional cooperation ensures mutual support during peak seasons.

The state’s peak demand stood at 376 MW on September 1 and 320 MW on September 24. With this year’s Puja coinciding with warmer weather, the projected demand is around 380 MW—higher than in previous years (332 MW in 2022, 311 MW in 2023, and 312 MW in 2024).

With robust measures and mobile response teams in place, Tripura aims to ensure a bright and joyous Durga Puja for all.
