Agartala, April 4 — As many as 710 voters joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during a major election rally held at Motor Stand in Gandacherra, in the presence of Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha.

The rally was organised in support of BJP candidates Bhumikananda Reang from the Ganganagar-Gandatwisa constituency and Samir Ranjan Tripura from Raimavalley constituency, ahead of the upcoming elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Saha said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, both the country and Tripura have been progressing steadily on the path of development. He stressed that similar growth and infrastructure development could be ensured in the ADC areas only if a BJP-led government is formed in the council.

Welcoming the 710 new members into the party fold, the Chief Minister described the development as a reflection of growing public confidence in the BJP. He noted that a significant number of those who joined were from tribal communities, highlighting what he termed as expanding grassroots support for the party in the region.

Launching a sharp attack on the current administration of the ADC, Dr. Saha alleged that it is being run by a “corrupt system” that has failed to deliver on its promises. He said that people are now rejecting what he described as “false assurances and unrest” and are instead seeking peace, stability, and development.

The Chief Minister further claimed that there is a strong public sentiment in favour of forming a “triple engine government” — referring to BJP-led governance at the Centre, state, and ADC levels. He asserted that the party is aiming to secure all 28 seats in the upcoming ADC elections, adding that this growing support has caused concern among opposition groups, particularly the Tipra Motha Party.

Without naming rivals directly at times, he accused opposition forces of engaging in violence and disruptive politics, drawing parallels with the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM), and said such practices would not be accepted by the people.

Dr. Saha also highlighted several initiatives undertaken by the government for the welfare and socio-economic upliftment of tribal communities, reaffirming the BJP’s commitment to inclusive development.

The rally was attended by several party leaders, including former MP Rebati Tripura, Janajati Morcha state president Parimal Debbarma, BJP Dhalai district president Patiram Tripura, and other local leaders, marking a strong show of organisational strength ahead of the polls.
