Agartala: Dec 12: On Thursday, December 12, 2024, at approximately 11:00 AM, the City Police Control in Guwahati received a bomb threat call from the 112 Shillong Police. The caller, using a mobile number, warned that a bomb was planned to be detonated at the Railway Station in Paltan Bazar, Guwahati. The authorities were immediately alerted, and the information was swiftly passed on to relevant security and law enforcement agencies.
In response, the Guwahati Police, along with the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF), initiated a comprehensive search operation at the railway station. Sniffer dogs and bomb detection equipment were deployed to ensure the safety of the public and to meticulously scan the premises for any potential threat. Despite the tense nature of the situation, the operation was conducted calmly and without causing any panic among the public.
The police also identified the alternative mobile number used by the caller, and investigations into the source of the call are ongoing. Authorities are focusing on tracing the caller’s identity and motives behind the false alarm.
After a thorough inspection, no suspicious items or explosive devices were found at the station. As a result, the police and security agencies, having completed their searches, dispersed, assuring the public that there was no immediate danger.
