Despite allocating funds for election promises in the budgets for 2023-24 and 2024-25, the Congress government has admitted to using Rs. 25,426.38 crore from the SCSP/TSP Special Scheme—intended for the welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes—for other guarantee schemes. The government justified this action under the pressure of the situation, but questions remain regarding the specific allocation and use of these funds.
The allocation of more than Rs. 52,000 crore for guarantees in the budget raises concerns about the necessity of diverting Rs. 25,426.38 crore from the SCSP/TSP scheme. Questions persist about the role of the Scheduled Castes in the allocation of funds for guarantee schemes and whether this diversion has negatively impacted their intended benefits.
There are calls for the government to prioritize the development of historically disadvantaged communities, ensuring their economic and social progress.
