The Amra Bangali party on Thursday submitted a deputation to the District Magistrate of West Tripura, demanding immediate intervention on a range of public issues, including unemployment, inflation, crimes against women, narcotics abuse and taxation concerns.

A delegation of party leaders met the District Magistrate and presented a six-point charter of demands, stating that the growing hardships faced by ordinary citizens required urgent attention from the administration. According to the party, rising unemployment and the escalating prices of essential commodities have significantly affected the lives of people across the state.

The deputation highlighted the continuous increase in the prices of petrol, diesel, cooking gas, medicines, edible oil, pulses and other daily necessities, alleging that the financial burden on common households has become increasingly difficult to bear. The party also expressed concern over the spread of narcotics and the rising incidence of crimes against women.

Referring to recent incidents that have attracted public attention, the party cited the death of Manisha Das at the Shantiniketan Medical College hostel on June 10 and the alleged gang rape of a Class IX student in Udaipur subdivision on June 12. Party leaders claimed that such incidents have intensified public anxiety over women’s safety and questioned the effectiveness of investigations in several sensitive cases.

As part of its memorandum, the party demanded a judicial inquiry into the death of Manisha Das under the supervision of a sitting High Court judge. It also called for the formation of a Special Task Force to deal with crimes against women and sought legal reforms to ensure speedy investigation and trial of such cases.

The deputation further demanded a complete ban on the production, distribution and sale of narcotic substances in the state. It urged the government to take strict action against black marketing and adopt measures to control the rising prices of essential commodities.

In addition, the party proposed the establishment of industries at the block level to generate employment opportunities and ensure economic development in rural areas. It also demanded the withdrawal of the recent increase in taxes imposed on vacant lands in newly expanded municipal areas.

The party warned that failure to address these concerns could deepen public dissatisfaction and weaken confidence in governance. It urged the District Magistrate to take immediate steps to address the issues raised in the memorandum.
