New Delhi, July 24: The Chhatra Juba Parishad (CJP) on Thursday reiterated that the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan remains a “non-negotiable” demand, even as representatives of the organisation held talks with the Central government following days of protests over alleged examination irregularities.

Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Jitendra Singh represented the government during the discussions with the protesting students and youth leaders. The meeting came amid mounting pressure over demands for greater accountability in the country’s examination system following recent paper leak controversies.

According to CJP leaders, while the government assured them that the issue of examination reforms and paper leaks would be discussed in Parliament, the organisation maintained that fixing accountability also requires the resignation of the Union Education Minister.

“The resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan is non-negotiable. We will continue our democratic movement until accountability is ensured,” CJP representatives said after the meeting.

The talks were held following sustained protests at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, where students and youth organisations have been demanding comprehensive reforms to the examination system, action against those responsible for paper leaks and justice for affected candidates.

Meanwhile, the Rapid Action Force (RAF) has launched an internal probe into the conduct of its personnel during the student protests in Delhi after allegations of excessive use of force surfaced during demonstrations.

The inquiry will examine the actions of RAF personnel deployed to maintain law and order during the protests and determine whether standard operating procedures were followed while dispersing demonstrators. The move comes after videos and eyewitness accounts from the protest site triggered concerns over the handling of the agitation.

The developments come at a time when student protests have intensified across several parts of the country over examination-related issues. Protesters have demanded systemic reforms, stronger safeguards against paper leaks and accountability for those responsible for lapses in the examination process.

While the Centre has assured discussions on examination reforms and indicated a positive approach towards several demands raised by the protesters, student groups have made it clear that their agitation will continue until concrete action is taken, including fixing responsibility for the alleged failures in the examination system.
