Haveri(Karnataka):April 21: BJP State President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra launched a sharp attack on the Congress government in Karnataka, accusing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of running an anti-farmer, anti-poor administration.
Addressing a massive public gathering as part of the Janakrosha Yatra, Vijayendra alleged that after coming to power, the Congress government gave people a “guarantee of price hike” instead of relief. He criticized the government for increasing prices of over 50 essential commodities, putting pressure on farmers and the poor.
Vijayendra accused the Congress of engaging in appeasement politics and insulting Hindus, while claiming that ₹38,500 crore allocated for SC/ST development had been misused. “This is not a government for the people—it is a government of advertisements and betrayal,” he said.
He further alleged internal instability within the ruling party, citing senior Congress leaders themselves. “Mallikarjun Kharge fears that BJP and Amit Shah might topple the government, but it is Congress MLAs who are doing the job,” he quipped. Vijayendra referenced R.V. Deshpande’s statement that no funds are available for development due to the cost of implementing guarantee schemes, and Raju Kage’s remarks on the desperate situation regarding funding for welfare work.
He stated that no major development projects have been undertaken in the past 20 months, and said the BJP is conducting the Janakrosha Yatra to expose the failures of the Congress government and raise public awareness.
“Under Yediyurappa, Karnataka was ranked second in development. Now, under Congress, it’s No. 1 in corruption,” Vijayendra said, sarcastically referring to comments by CM’s Economic Advisor Basavaraj Rayareddy.
Leaders including Govinda Karajol, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, N. Ravikumar, B.C. Patil, and others were present at the event.
