Agartala, July 29: In a significant move to strengthen district-level governance and accelerate development, Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, who has been appointed as the guardian minister for Unakoti district, chaired the district’s first administrative review meeting on Wednesday at the Kailashahar Circuit House.
The meeting brought together senior district officials, heads of various government departments, Panchayat representatives, and other stakeholders to review the implementation of welfare schemes and development projects. The minister emphasized the need for coordinated efforts to ensure that development reaches every household in the district in a planned, transparent, and time-bound manner.
Addressing the meeting, Chowdhury said the government’s primary objective is to build a modern, prosperous, and self-reliant Unakoti where every citizen benefits from development initiatives. He stressed that creating employment opportunities for the youth and promoting self-reliance remain among the government’s top priorities.
“Our pledge is to build a modern, prosperous, and promising Unakoti where every family is connected to the mainstream of development,” the minister said.
During the review, officials presented updates on ongoing projects related to education, healthcare, agriculture, drinking water supply, road connectivity, electricity, public services, and infrastructure development. The minister instructed all departments to ensure timely completion of projects while maintaining transparency, accountability, and quality standards in execution.
Highlighting the district’s immense tourism potential, Chowdhury said Unakoti possesses unique historical, religious, and natural attractions that can generate large-scale employment if developed properly. He called for improved transport connectivity and better tourism infrastructure to attract more visitors and strengthen the local economy.
The minister also stressed the importance of promoting food processing industries to add value to local agricultural produce. He noted that developing agro-based industries would not only increase farmers’ income but also create sustainable employment opportunities in rural areas.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to inclusive development, Chowdhury said the state administration is working in line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha to ensure balanced growth across all districts.
The meeting concluded with officials being directed to closely monitor the progress of development projects and resolve pending issues promptly so that public welfare initiatives are implemented efficiently and without unnecessary delays.
