The demand for the immediate recruitment of TET-1 and TET-2 qualified candidates gathered momentum once again on Wednesday as hundreds of unemployed teaching aspirants staged a protest outside Shiksha Bhavan in Agartala. The demonstrators urged the state government and the Teachers’ Recruitment Board, Tripura (TRBT), to expedite the appointment process without any further delay.

Holding placards and flex banners, the protesters raised slogans demanding justice for candidates who successfully cleared the 2024 Teacher Eligibility Test (TET). They later submitted a deputation to the TRBT, calling for immediate publication of the recommendation list and completion of the recruitment process within a fixed timeline.

The agitating aspirants expressed deep frustration over the prolonged delay in teacher appointments despite qualifying the eligibility examination. Many alleged that repeated delays have left thousands of qualified candidates unemployed, forcing them to face severe financial and emotional hardship.

The banners carried by the protesters reflected their growing discontent, with slogans such as “Appoint all TET-qualified candidates immediately,” “Why are years passing without recruitment?” and “Publish the recommendation list and complete appointments quickly.” The demonstrators also demanded transparency in the recruitment process and sought clear answers from the Education Minister, the Education Department, and the TRBT regarding the status of appointments.

Speaking to reporters, several candidates said they had fulfilled all eligibility requirements but were still waiting for recruitment due to administrative delays. They claimed that the uncertainty surrounding the recruitment process has disrupted their careers and affected their families financially.

The protesters reiterated three key demands: immediate publication of the recommendation list, time-bound recruitment of all eligible TET-qualified candidates, and an assurance that no further academic sessions would be affected because of delays in the appointment process.

Warning of intensified agitation if their demands remain unaddressed, the aspirants said they would continue their peaceful movement until the government initiates the recruitment process. “We have qualified through a fair examination and deserve appointments without unnecessary delay. Our protest will continue until our rights are restored,” one of the demonstrators said.

The protest highlights the growing dissatisfaction among teaching aspirants in Tripura, who are now seeking swift government intervention to ensure timely recruitment and fill vacant teaching posts across the state.
