AGARTALA, June 9: In a bid to encourage greater participation from Tripura in the upcoming 30th Sindhu Darshan Yatra and the first Sindhu Mahakumbh, Tripura Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker and Chief Patron of Himalayan Parivar Tripura, Ramprasad Paul, has announced the establishment of a dedicated Himalaya Visitors Assistance Centre.

Addressing a press conference, Paul said the centre has been created to provide guidance, logistical support and travel assistance to pilgrims and visitors planning to undertake the spiritual journey to Leh-Ladakh. The initiative is aimed at making the pilgrimage more accessible while ensuring stronger representation from Tripura in the nationally significant cultural and religious event.

Paul expressed concern over the relatively low participation of media personnel from Tripura in previous editions of the Sindhu Darshan Yatra. He noted that journalists from different parts of the country regularly join the pilgrimage under the patronage of the Himalayan Parivar, but representation from Tripura has remained limited.

To address this gap, the organisation has introduced a special subsidised travel package exclusively for journalists from the state. The package includes travel arrangements from Kurukshetra in Haryana to Leh-Ladakh, accommodation, meals and other essential facilities throughout the 17-day pilgrimage. Journalists will also have the option of travelling with their spouses under the scheme.

The Deputy Speaker said the assistance centre will not be limited to media personnel and will also extend support to members of the general public interested in joining the yatra. The centre will provide information, registration assistance and travel-related guidance to prospective participants.

“Our objective is to ensure that Tripura has a meaningful presence in this national spiritual and cultural gathering,” Paul said.

The 30th Sindhu Darshan Yatra is scheduled to commence from Kurukshetra on June 18 and will bring together pilgrims, devotees and cultural representatives from across the country. Organisers believe the new assistance centre will help strengthen Tripura’s cultural engagement with the Himalayan region while promoting wider participation in the event.
