Agartala, September 21: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Monday inaugurated an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in the newly developed Super Specialty Block and a Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) at AGMC and GBP Hospital here.
The two facilities are aimed at enhancing critical care capacity and strengthening sterilisation and infection-control services at the state's major referral hospital.
MLA Meena Rani Sarkar attended the inauguration as the special guest, while Health and Family Welfare Department Secretary Kiran Gittey was present as the guest of honour. Senior doctors, healthcare professionals and officials from the health department also participated in the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Saha said the government was working to expand and modernise healthcare infrastructure across the state and improve access to quality medical services.
He highlighted the ongoing efforts to upgrade facilities at GBP Hospital, which caters to patients requiring specialised and advanced treatment from different parts of the state.
The newly commissioned ICU is expected to strengthen the hospital's capacity to provide critical care, while the CSSD will support the systematic sterilisation and management of medical equipment and supplies.
The Chief Minister said strengthening hospital infrastructure was an important part of the government's broader efforts to improve the state's healthcare system.
Officials said the addition of the two facilities would support more efficient patient care and contribute to maintaining quality standards in clinical services at AGMC and GBP Hospital.
The inauguration marks another step in the ongoing development of infrastructure at the state's principal government medical facility, with further efforts focused on improving healthcare delivery and patient services.
