Agartala, Oct 28 : The Tripura School Education Department has issued show-cause notices to three government school teachers over alleged violations of service conduct rules, including claims of conducting paid coaching classes for candidates preparing for the Teachers' Eligibility Test (TET), officials said.
The notices were issued through the District Education Officers (DEOs) of South Tripura and Sepahijala districts, directing the teachers to submit written explanations within three days.
The teachers who received the notices are Subrata Dutta, a Post Graduate Teacher at Paikhola Higher Secondary School in Belonia; Monirul Islam, a Graduate Teacher at PM SHRI Baidyadighi Higher Secondary School in Sepahijala district; and Nityananda Das of Uthai Mog Para SB School in South Tripura.
According to departmental sources, the allegations against Dutta stem from a video that reportedly circulated on social media. The department will examine its contents to determine whether they constitute a violation of the conduct rules applicable to government employees.
In the cases of Islam and Das, the allegations relate to their purported involvement in paid coaching classes, tuition sessions and mock examinations for candidates preparing for TET-I and TET-II examinations.
The department is scrutinising whether such activities are compatible with the service conditions and conduct requirements applicable to government school teachers.
Officials said the show-cause notices were issued to seek explanations from the teachers and provide them an opportunity to present their versions before the department takes any further decision.
The replies will be examined by the competent authorities to determine whether the allegations warrant further departmental proceedings or disciplinary action under the applicable service rules.
The department is also expected to assess whether the activities in question, if established, violate existing regulations governing the conduct of government employees.
Officials clarified that the matter remains at a preliminary stage and that the issuance of show-cause notices does not establish wrongdoing. Any further action will depend on the explanations submitted by the teachers and the findings of the departmental examination.
There was no immediate confirmation on whether the three teachers had submitted their replies to the notices.
The department is expected to decide its next course of action after examining their responses and following the prescribed procedures.
