Agartala, Oct 28 :Tripura Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma on Wednesday inaugurated the renovated Tripura Nature Trails and Resorts (TNTR) facility at Sepahijala and launched an e-bike service to promote eco-friendly tourism at the wildlife sanctuary.
The twin initiatives aim to improve tourist facilities and encourage environmentally sustainable exploration of Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary, one of Tripura's prominent nature-based tourism destinations.
The renovated resort has been upgraded to provide visitors with improved amenities and a more comfortable stay, while the newly introduced battery-operated bicycles will offer tourists an alternative mode of transport to explore the sprawling sanctuary and its zoo.
Officials said the e-bike service is intended to reduce the environmental impact of tourism activities while enabling visitors to experience the sanctuary's biodiversity, forest landscapes and natural surroundings.
The facility is expected to benefit nature enthusiasts, wildlife lovers and families seeking an environment-friendly way to explore the area.
Speaking at the inauguration, Debbarma said the initiatives were part of the government's efforts to strengthen nature-based tourism and improve visitor experiences across the state.
He emphasised the need to balance tourism development with environmental conservation, stating that improved infrastructure and sustainable transport options could encourage responsible tourism without placing additional pressure on sensitive ecosystems.
The minister also stressed the importance of protecting the state's forests, wildlife and natural heritage while developing tourism facilities.
The renovated TNTR Sepahijala Resort is expected to improve accommodation options for tourists visiting the sanctuary, which is known for its rich biodiversity and zoological attractions.
Officials said the introduction of the new facilities could help attract more visitors to the destination and raise awareness about wildlife conservation and environmental protection.
Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary is among Tripura's key attractions for nature-based tourism, drawing visitors interested in its forest ecosystems and wildlife.
The initiatives form part of broader efforts to develop eco-tourism infrastructure and promote sustainable travel in the northeastern state.
Debbarma reiterated the government's commitment to encouraging responsible tourism while preserving Tripura's natural resources for future generations.
The upgraded resort and e-bike service are expected to provide visitors with additional facilities while reinforcing the focus on environmentally conscious tourism, officials said.
