Agartala, April 11: Tipra Motha Party founder and Chairman of the TTAADC Administrative Reforms Committee, Pradyot Kishore Debbarman, on Friday hosted a significant homecoming ceremony for former militants of the disbanded NLFT and Royal Borok Army. The event took place at the Manikya Enclave in Agartala, marking a symbolic step toward peace and reconciliation.

Both militant outfits were officially declared disbanded in September 2024 after being dormant for over a decade. The homecoming event welcomed the ex-militants back into mainstream society, encouraging dialogue and mutual understanding.

Speaking to the media, Debbarman said, “For a long period of time, they lived far away from their homeland in Bangladesh. Today, they have come over ground, so we need to exchange views with each other. We must understand their struggles, and they should also know what we have been doing for our people. Through dialogue, we can find solutions to many problems.”

Senior leaders of the NLFT, including Biswa Mohan Debbarma, were also present at the gathering, underscoring the importance of inclusive discussions for long-term peace.

Later in the day, Debbarman addressed a large public rally in Takarjala, Sepahijala district, where he emphasized Tiprasa empowerment through unity and education. “If our unity remains intact, one day, a Tiprasa will become the Chief Minister of Tripura,” he declared.

He also expressed his vision of building a strong leadership base within the community. “I want IAS officers, judges, and even a DGP from our community. Empowerment must begin with education and unity,” he told the crowd.

Debbarman’s remarks struck a chord with supporters, reaffirming Tipra Motha’s continued push for self-respect, opportunity, and political representation for the indigenous Tiprasa people.
