Agartala, July 28: In a significant move aimed at transforming Tripura’s economic landscape, the state government on Tuesday signed three landmark Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE). The agreements are expected to strengthen financial inclusion, enhance skill development, promote entrepreneurship, and improve access to capital markets across the state.
The collaboration marks a major step towards integrating Tripura with India’s evolving financial ecosystem. Through these MoUs, the government seeks to empower youth, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), startups, and government officials by providing them with greater financial awareness, market knowledge, and investment opportunities.
A key highlight of the initiative is the partnership between the NSE and the State Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development (SIPARD). With this agreement, SIPARD has become one of the first government training institutes in the country to establish such a strategic collaboration with the NSE, setting a benchmark for institutional capacity building and financial education.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha described the initiative as a milestone in Tripura’s development journey. “Together, we are building a financially aware, skilled and future-ready Tripura,” he said, adding that the agreements would strengthen the state’s economic foundation while equipping its citizens with the knowledge and skills needed to participate effectively in India’s growing financial markets.
The Chief Minister emphasized that expanding financial literacy and encouraging entrepreneurship would play a crucial role in creating employment opportunities and driving sustainable economic growth.
The event was attended by Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, Chief Secretary J. K. Sinha, senior government officials, and representatives from the National Stock Exchange, reflecting the government’s commitment to institutional reforms and economic empowerment.
Officials believe the partnership will help create a vibrant investment ecosystem by improving awareness of capital markets, encouraging startups and MSMEs to explore new funding avenues, and enhancing the financial capabilities of government functionaries.
The initiative is being viewed as a landmark reform that positions Tripura as an emerging investment destination. By connecting the state more closely with national financial institutions, the government hopes to accelerate inclusive growth, foster innovation, and ensure that the benefits of economic development reach both urban and rural communities. The collaboration is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping a financially resilient and future-ready Tripura.
